“As part of an investigation based on photography and the impact of technology on our lives, I am interested in exploring social and anthropological issues through Painting, as a traditional technique, as well as through multimedia techniques. The work —altogether—, invites the audience to reflect surrounded by an environmental concept intended to depict the realm of the images that we experience on a daily basis.”

Echevarria’s most recent statement: emphasizes “altogether”, since the A-Picture-In-Motion project has been part of the artist’s pictorial exhibitions since 2011 on environs purposes.

TAKE A MOMENT TO GET TO KNOW A-PICTURE-IN-MOTION

A Picture In Motion is a project that explores looping films made from footage [recorded images, such as film, videotape, or digitized clips] to be viewed specifically as moving photographs. In other words, photographs that are no longer static, that are in constant motion.

The project needs the support of display imaging technologies, which have evolved dramatically in the last ten years. Besides that, A Picture In Motion has primarily had a special interest in photography as a science or art.

Ofill’s pictures-in-motion could be defined as the painter interpretation of what would be moving photographs. His work, since 2009, concerns the metropolis of New York, where the project arose. It also explores both, philosophical and anthropological aspects of the urban life and its inhabitants.

Ofill’s pictures-in-motion consist of fragments of urban and real-time life encapsulated in single moving pictures that run in looping mode and are most likely presented as Moving Art Pictures; Perhaps its most accurate term when shown publicly.

“The audiovisual work that he presents, ‘Looking For Abstraction (At The Jungle)’ is an atypical publicity of New York City, which invites it to become shade and rain to travel through it. The city turned into art: the Real Estate is here the actual state in which the artist’s pictorial visions become habitable.”
